Review by Mocha Man
messhof overcame the programming challenge of worrying about rope collisions by not worrying about them. He actually didn't bother drawing the rope at all. It doesn't matter, you'll figure it out. That's the general mentality of YOU FOUND THE GRAPPLING HOOK, another bizarre, somewhat shallow, and overall very enjoyable introverted unpredictable quasi-adventure psycho thriller spelunking game.

The general mood of the game is characteristic of messhof's other productions. Utilitarian graphics are combined with disturbing music to set the stage for your character, which appears to be a flying yeti viking and, in my imagination, has a voice like Wilford Brimley. As you wander the cavern, you occasionally meet a spectral commentator who gives you wizened advice and then disappears like a dead jedi. Most of the game's charm lies in letting the player discover more by playing more, so I won't spoil anything.

The game's difficulty is geared to keep you paying attention without leaving you outraged. Unlike some of messhof's other titles, which can quickly ground-stomp an unsuspecting player, this game can be played straight through in 15-25 minutes. However, you'll hardly notice the time pass, as this game centers around abrupt and exciting changes in gameplay, so you're never on sure footing. The bottom line is that you'll probably love this game if you enjoy other games by messhof. YOU FOUND THE GRAPPLING HOOK should appeal to players looking for simple, polished mechanics, a creative and well-executed concept, and sweet yellow gold.

I love this game! Everything just... works. And it works great! You can abuse the boots like a madman and actually gain height, but it's not really practical. This game is perfect for speedruns, especially the escape sequence. I'd love to see an online ranking for the time.
My only complaints:
It was too short. A way to edit the levels would be great, but I can't think of one.
There should be a different ending for completing the game with 0 gold. It doesn't make any sense if you steal no gold.

Very nice, could be described as a cross between Grappler and Punishment.

This game is amazing...the grappling system take a while to get used to, but once you get it, you're hooked (hahahahaha!!! get it?). The graphics and music also add a nice creepy ambiance. 10/10.

Amazing Game! I loved every minute of it. The ending was quite unexpected, and the game controlled perfectly. The difficulty level was also quite good. How did you get such a good grappling hook to work? Keep up the good work. The only thing I could fault the game for is... well, nothing. The game was great! Keep up the good work!
