Game Description

Oh, Tetron is up to his old evil! He plans to take over the world, and there is only one man who can stop him. That man is Hero.

You must traverse deadly bases full of enemies armed with nothing more than a jet pack, a laser rifle, and your quick reflexes.

Do you think you are hero enough?

Game Play

Hero is a 2d adventure game that boasts huge maze like levels rendered in beautiful black an white.

You use the arrow keys to move through the ever increasingly difficult cavernous bases seaking out Shield Generators that protect the exits that lead you ever closer to you final confrontation with Tetron.

Through out the bases you will battle hordes of enemies that range from mindless drones to huge Devistators that are nearly thirty times your size. You defeat these beasties with your trustly laser rifle that has two buttons for left and right firing.

To aid you in your quest there is a hidden upgrade to your laser rifle on all but the last of the bases.

Dodging quickly, firing accurately, and navigating smartly will you see to the end of this action packed adventure.

My Thoughts

So it's graphically simple. So the number of power ups is limited to one. The midi quality may be of not compete with any John Williams tunes. Despite all of these old school setbacks you will find yourself clenching your stomache muscles trying master your way through the tricky traps and laser blasts that fill this game.

The feeling of playing a solid game is a rare one these days. Trying to puzzle through a game that seems more like work than a game seems to be the norm now days. If you don't mind stepping back a couple years in technology you will be reminded of what fun is.

What is fun? Ignoring the world around you for a little while, and doning a space suit. Taking time out of the super detailed, fast paced, cell phone filled crap of the day to day to just play a game that has a dude and a laser cannon. Oh yeah, and beating the pants off of some evil alien scum. What do they need pants for any way?

Download this if you want a good time. I suggest it to the younger crowd out there especially. They need to get a sense of what a good solid game foundation is all about.

Two lupi thumbs up on this one!

This is amazingly simple; in fact, from a technical standpoint anyone could have done it. But it's also extremely addictive and immersive, and I had a lot of fun with it. I love the graphics, too.

This game is one of my favorites on Game Maker Games. The sounds were great, and wren't annoying. I loved the challenge and the graphics didn't geti n the way of the game. The only thing i didn't like in the game is that i couldn't shoot up and down.
And for all you people who rated low, just because of Graphics. You are a bunch of morons, graphics don't make the game. Gameplay makes the game.

This game is so fun! Although the last level is a little tricky, it is still one of my favorite games!

I don't see why this game should be any good at all..it's almost the most basic prgramming can get. And yet I still enjoyed playing. It doesn't bring back memories but I still think it's fun...

Definitely original and authentic,
and fun.

I wish I had this when I was younger.
In fact,
if I had this as an old Atari or Nintendo game,
I'd have it on my favorite games list.
If that makes sense.

Reminds me of the Commodore 64 and the days of Atari XD simple gameplay with challenging, intricate levels. Deserves every bit of the spotlight!! XD

Great game! It's just as frustrating and seemingly pointless as all the cool oldies. The intro sequence and in game graphics look dated in a very authentic way, really lovely.

The gameplay would have been better with either more power ups or more 'maneuvers'. But that might've made the game less true to the real old school games. I really liked the way some rooms fell apart as you entered them.

The music was a mixed pot, some songs were perfect, others felt less appropriate. The sound effects were spotless, but maybe there could've been a firing sound (although that might've been a bit annoying in the long run).

Overall, this was a brilliant game.

Hero was a very interestng game. The retro/arcade style was very refreshing and the controls and objectives were reasonable. Of course, I didn't get very far in it, but this is what I thought of the amount that I did play.

Ha ha ha ha! That was great! I haven't felt such a nostalgic wave since the graphics of Flapflapflap hit my eyes! Ha! I loved that gun powerup, it really came in handy, but I found it missing in later levels. But still, HA! I found the difficulty rise vaguely steep, however, but that's just me! Keep it up!
