Get That Sub! is a fairly traditional survival-arcade game, but don't let that label fool you. It's definitely quite unique, and, probably most important of all with an arcade game, quite fun.

You play as an experimental submarine who nobody seems to like very much. In fact, they - submarines, ships, helicopters, airplanes - hate you so much that they decide to shoot stuff at you so they don't have to deal with you anymore. But you, being the awesome little submarine that you are, aren't going to take that lying down, and you've got a machine gun, missles, and torpedoes to prove it.

The game mechanics are almost flawless, except for one rather major annoyance- because of the key chosen for the machine gun (a pretty vital button), you can't move up and left while firing. Other than that, though, things are remarkably smooth.

The gameplay is chaotic, fast-paced, and difficult. Until you've gotten very good at it, one round will likely only last a minute or two. From the second the game starts up, the screen is filled with explosions and flying colors, and it's easy to lose your little sub in all the action, but fortunately, the author has implemented a location feature, so I can't really complain about that. In any case, I still think the game is quite a bit of fun.

The graphics are gorgeous; the various vehicles are astoundingly well-drawn, and dazzling particle effects are thrown in at every opportunity. The author has pulled out all the stops in terms of graphics, even going so far as to include day/night cycles (incidentally probably my favorite part). Overall, they give the game a professional polish that few independent games have.

The sound, unfortunately, is the game's weakest point. There is only a single track of jazzy, and, I suppose, fitting music, and it gets grating after a couple times through. Fortunately it can be turned off, but after you've done so, the game is completely empty sound-wise. I think it's a shame; I consider sound to be an important part of the game experience. Still, this doesn't drag the game down too much.

If you've got a taste for fast-paced and well-crafted arcade games, Get That Sub! just might be one for you.

It's not bad, but it could use some polishing. The graphics aren't all that impressive, and the music gets a little annoying after a while (although it's better than most midis). I like the online high score table and the way the game was put together. It's a good arcade game, but it still needs work.

I love this game, a lot. It's really addictive, and that tune playing in the background is incredibly catchy. Really fast paced, really well made. Nice work.
