lockOn is an abstract fast-action space melee game. It resembles arcade classics like Asteroids and Robotron 2084, but at the same time comes across as fresh and modern. With excellent presentation and compelling gameplay, this is one you don't want to miss.
The ship you control in lockOn has several weapons. Press F to lock your target on the nearest enemy, and press G to fire a missile at the targeted enemy. These missiles become more powerful as you collect the flashing powerups between levels. H launches a torpedo straight in the direction you are facing, and its speed depends on your speed. Space releases a blast that clears enemies around you but also reduces the power of your missiles by one level.
Simple shapes and colors, flashy particle effects, and commercial-quality ambient sounds combine to create a strong atmosphere that adds significantly to the experience. Incidentally, this is one of those games that really can't be represented well with a screenshot. You have to see (and hear) it in action.
I personally have played lockOn more than any other Game Maker creation to date. The simple unique style and captivating nature make it, I think, an essential part of anyone’s Game Maker game collection. Its polish gives it an audience beyond the Game Maker community, as evidenced by its inclusion at Home of the Underdogs. Finally, if you like lockOn, be sure to try Wacheski's other Iteration Games titles--you won't be disappointed.

I admit I only tried it briefly, but I really do not understand the appeal of this game. The graphics are tiny and confusing, and the gameply is simplistic and uninteresting. It certainly does have style though. Perhaps everyone else is simply starved for something different, and I'm not.
Extremly Great, this guy has a lot of imagination.
I loved this game I can wait to play it again, graphics are exelent, sound, gameplay, everything is just awsome! Congratulations for this great game.
I didn't 'Get' this at first because I couldn't see the point of a shooter where you could keep using homing missiles, but I tried it again and it's really good!!
good ideas, sound, particle effects, but i often lost sight of where i was, and the graphics aren't the best. huge achievement though, with the fx and sfx but just not for me.
