Game Overview

Your computer's hard drive is fragmented, and it is your job to defragment it. The goal is to get the scattered blocks into one nice little chunk. All of the blocks are color coded, and they must be lined up in order to assure that your computer is running at optimal speeds.

Does this sound like a boring task to you? Trust me. Defragmenting your hard drive just got fun!

Game Play

This is basically a matching game. You have a simple multicolored bar that represents the files fragmented across your hard drive, and it is up to you make sure that all of the colored blocks match up.

You do not only have to match the proper color, but you also have to make sure that there is enough space to place the blocks.

Moving the blocks requires you to use the mouse to manipulate them by clicking and dragging the block into the place of your choice. If the colors do not match or if there is not enough space to place the block then you will be forced to move the blocks around to create more space.

The challenging aspect of this game comes into place in two parts. There is a timer to contend with, and there are white blocks that cannot be moved. The timer sets the pace of the level, and the immobile white blocks force you plan your moves wisely.

My Thoughts

Though this game is simple in mechanics, the surprising level of challenge will set your pulse up a notch or two. The combination of a timer and a need to plan will give you a feeling of satisfaction after the job is done.

Graphically this game is simple. There are only to sprites in the entire game, and the rest of the graphics are done using the good old draw routines.

The sounds are minimal, but adequate. I really didn't hear them over the pumping of blood in my wee little brain.

In conclusion, this game is simple, addictive, and joy to play through. There is no real replay value, but it is a great game to send to a bored friend or coworker to brighten their day.

Give it a try for the old Lupi, will yah?

P.S.

There is a hidden game if you win. Can you guess what it is?

Words From the Author

Defrag is a simple minigame based on defragmenting your harddrive. You start off with a number of blocks. You try to line up all blocks of the same color, but before the time limit runs out. For this game, i restricted my self to using no sprites. As such, its not very interesting to look at, but rest assured, the gameplay is quite frantic, and a single mistake can waste enough precious seconds that the timer will run out, and then you'll have to try again. This game has 15 levels in all, and when you defragment them all, you get to play the super cool original game!

Solid fast-paced gameplay. Very original never-before done concept. Perfect (yes, perfect!) difficulty curve. Well-crafted goal that truly rewards the player with a little ***** (psst, it's a secret!) for finishing the game. Very satisfying experience.

Sweet. Simple. Fun. What more can you ask? Better, more polished graphics, which can still be done with drawing functions. A background music will help too, along with some particle effects (such as sparks flying after completing a level).

Overall, it's a very good game, but it can be further improved.

hey! this is actually a good game! I didn't think it would be, but it's quite fun. With a little more work and effort, this game could become a puzzle/frantic clicking game. very nice. I would like to see a sequel. (it's not a WOW! kind of game, but rather is a funny small game that gets incredibly hard as the game progresses. very addictive.

Not very long, but still, a pretty fun game. And, the fact that it's done with drawing events is pretty neat.

And, you know, it's a pretty original concept. (Well, except for the bonus game =P )

Hehe, I defragmented the whole computer just to play **** XD

Anyways, That was a very origional game, and at first seemed to easy, but deffinitelly got to a addicting and frusturating difficulty level. The curve of difficulty was well constructed, not starting too hard, and not ending too easy. Nice twists and challenges were also added inbetween to remove from the repiticious enviornment.

A Very unique and well made game. Nice Job

This game is very fun. Thank God you can save with F5 and F6.... Also If you lose, you only restart that level, not the whole game.

thanks for the replies. Slash1234, I know it seems like I'm defending my game, but was that 1 really neccarry? Its completely obvious that the game doesn't have errors, as others have completely beaten it, and never found one. Your not fooling anyone.
